Prior to buying these bowls, we had ceramic crocks in our rabbit cages. (They came with the rabbits and cages when we got them from a friend a couple months ago) The crocks were fine when the weather was decent, but January in Missouri can be very cold. When the temperature is in the teens for multiple days, those crocks become impossible to thaw out. (We haul all of our water for our little homestead from town for now) These Fortex bowls make it so easy to pop the ice out and refill! We did run a wire around each bowl in the corners of the cages so they don't tip as easily, and some rabbits have chewed on them a little, but nothing major. I expect they might get hot in the summer, so if that's the case, we'll switch back to ceramic for June-Aug. The initial smell on these actually wasn't as bad as I expected, and didn't seem to bother the animals too much either.
Kudos to Jeffer's for having the best price anywhere online, it was worth the wait for them to be in stock.
